4 Day Course
This course covers all the aspects of occupational safety and health. It is designed to provide learners with the skills and knowledge to promote and maintain safety and health in their working environments.
This course will provide the learner with the modern approaches on how to include health and safety into management systems as well as how to manage and control common hazards and risk management.
Learners will gain in-depth knowledge of the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and associated regulations.

The course aim, is to provide the knowledge and skills required to manage resource and risk in compliance with an organisations policy and best practice in health and safety.
Training Methods:
Each delegate receives a workbook that includes sections for notes and Q&A sessions.
The course will be delivered in a classroom by presentation and discussions. Individuals quiz, team exercises, board game, flip chart and videos are used throughout the course.

No course pre-requisites.

Classes can vary from 8 – 20 learners.
Certification
Participants will be awarded a nationally recognised IOSH SHE For Construction Managers certificate of training upon successful completion of the course.

Day 1

- Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Applications) Regulations 2007.
- Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.
- Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Working at Heights) Regulations 2006.
Day 2
- Risk Assessment.
- Active Monitoring.
- Re-Active Monitoring.
- Accidents / Case Studies.
Day 3
- Plant and Machinery.
- Scaffolding Management.
- GA Forms.
- Manual Handling.
- Safety at Heights.
Day 4
- General Site Safety.
- Safety Management of Road Works and Street Works, Traffic Control and Signage Management.
- Fire Safety.
- Chemicals.
- Electricity.
- Review.
- Questions & Answer Session.
- Examination.
Learning Outcomes
To give personnel acting as PSDP and PSCS the knowledge and skills to enable them to recognise hazards in construction projects and to give them the information to manage and control them.
Upon successful completion of this course participants will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to:
- Assess and control risks on site to both workers and the public.
- Understand relevant health and safety legislation / codes of practice / information and guidance on compliance.
- Have an understanding of legal duties and management responsibility.
- Understand list of duties and responsibilities of Employees, Clients, Designers, Contractors and Sub-Contractors.
- Have an understanding of Risk Assessment and Control, Active Monitoring and Re-Active Monitoring.
- Be able to select workplace precautions, relative to the hazards and record results of risk assessments and carry out reviews.
- Reporting accidents and incidents and distinguish between accidents, incidents and near misses and statutory requirement for reporting and recording.
