2 Day Course
This two-day course is designed for experienced operators who do not hold a certificate. A RTITB certificate is awarded to participants at the end of the course provided they achieve the required standard in the theoretical and practical tests.
Course Outline
The Forklift Reach Training Course ensures candidates reach the skill level required to safely operate the forklift to RTITB standard.
The course syllabus meets the requirements of RTITB standard for forklift operators.
On completion of this training course, trainees will be able to operate a forklift reach safely, reducing the risk of incidents or risk of injury to pedestrians and to the operator.
Training Methods:
Classroom based PowerPoint Presentation.
Practical demonstrations and applications using the forklift.
Supervised trainee assessment with corrective instruction.
Practical and theory competence test.
All participants undergo an examination conducted by an independent examiner and on successful completion are registered as trained Fork truck drivers.

Letter from employer required.
Forklift Training should be updated every three years.

Course Practical Content:
- Operating Systems
- Controls, instruments and safety features.
- Daily inspection and preventive maintenance.
- Starting, Stopping, Steering, Turning Reversing.
- Manoeuvring in confined areas.
- Handling awkward loads.
- The hydraulic system.
- Pallet pick and place procedure.
- Stacking/de-stacking – racking all levels.
- Re-fuel/recharge safely.
- Vehicle loading and unloading procedure.
- Safe parking.
Certification:
On successful completion of the exam participants are awarded a RTITB Forklift Operators Certificate.
