180 Excavator (Novice) CSCS

3 Day Course
This course is designed to instruct, train and assess participants in the safe use of 180 Excavators, in a variety of terrains, in keeping with current legislation.
180 Excavators often referred to as Backhoes or Backhoe Loaders are used for a huge variety of different jobs. Often they are the only piece of heavy equipment on a construction site.


Who Should Attend?
Those looking to gain full CSCS certification for a 180 Excavator.
Candidates Must:
Have a Valid Safe Pass Card.
Have proof of 6 Months on site experience. (letter from employer)
Bring a Current Passport Photo.
Bring their own PPE (e.g. Safety Footwear etc).
Be at least 18 years of age.
Additional Information:
Maximum and minimum of 4 learners.

Course Content:
Theory

  • Duties of operator.
  • Pre-Shift Inspection.
  • Hazards associated with working with 180 Excavators.

Course Content
Practical

  • Front shovel operation
  • Excavating and digging procedures.
  • Back filling procedures.
  • Ground Levelling.
  • Machine limitations in different environments.

Certification:
SOLAS CSCS logbook/ticket and QQI certificate.
On the 3rd day of the course participants are given a log book. After 6 months further experience under the supervision of a CSCS ticket holder of the same category, they must pass a 1 day assessment to achieve CSCS card and QQI Certification.
